Your first 10 minutes

First Time Driving — FAQ
Is a Polaris Slingshot hard to drive?
No. If you can drive a car you can drive a Slingshot — it has a steering wheel, pedals and seat belts. The differences are that it sits very low, feels much faster, and one rear wheel handles all the power, so be smooth on the throttle.
Do I need any special license or experience?
In Florida and most states, no — a regular driver's license is enough because the Slingshot is classified as an autocycle. No motorcycle endorsement and no prior riding experience needed.
Is it safe for a first-time driver?
Yes, with normal care. It has seat belts, roll hoops, ABS and traction control. Take the first few minutes slowly, avoid hard throttle in turns, and leave extra following distance.
Should I get the manual or automatic?
If you're not confident with a clutch, choose AutoDrive (paddle-shift automatic) — it removes the only tricky part. Ask us which units are available when you book.
What should I wear and bring?
Sunglasses, sunscreen, and hair tied back. There's no roof, so wind and sun are constant. A light jacket helps at night or in rain — see our rain guide.
